New     BERM WORK CONTINUES!!

Despite the continuing rain, the work has been progressing right on schedule. The new waterproofing membrane will be installed in the next several weeks, and then tested repeatedly to ensure watertightness. The manufacturer's representative has been on site many times to see that the job is done to manufacturer's specifications. Once the waterproofing is complete, the berm will be professionally landscaped.


GARBAGE PICK UP

Call your concierge for a personal pick up if you have large items!!! Residents with extra large pieces of garbage that do not fit in the compactor rooms or chutes should contact the concierge for a pick up at your apartment. Out of respect for your neighbors, please do not leave large boxes and other garbage at the compactor room doors.


New     NEW PROCEDURE FOR APARTMENT ALTERATIONS

If you plan to renovate or alter your apartment in any way, you must have approval from Management. For approval, you will need to submit a completed Alteration Agreement. The Alteration Agreement sets forth rules and regulations that must be followed. These rules were carefully written in order to protect the physical plant and the residents of the Galaxy Towers Condominium Association. Copies of the Alteration Agreement can be found initially in the cubbies, and can also be obtained by contacting the Maintenance Department at 201-453-2436.


PIGEON CONTROL

The pigeon control program was started several months ago and so far it looks like we are gaining control. If you have a pigeon problem on your balcony, please contact the main office at 201 453-2400 so you can be put on the list for treatment. "The Bird Doctor" comes to the Galaxy every Friday afternoon. We will need to have your telephone number so that we can call in advance to ensure that you are home. If you will not be home, please provide a Permission to Enter slip along with your keys so that we can enter your apartment and treat your balcony.


PET FAIR AT BULLS FERRY

There will be a Pet Fair on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Bulls Ferry from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Free rabies shots will be administered from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM by Animal General of Edegewater. Bob Rogers, representing the Town of Guttenberg will be on hand to license your pets. Also on hand will be groomers, dog walkers, vets, and many other professionals dedicated to your pets. Check you cubbies for more information.


New     AUTOMOBILE SIZE REGULATIONS FOR THE GARAGE

The Board has approved new rules for the size of automobiles permitted in the garage. So, before you purchase that new SUV this weekend, please contact the management office to find our new height and length restrictions for the garage. A formal notice will be distributed shortly.


GALAXY BOOK CLUB

The book for the June 18, 2003 meeting will be The Fortunate Pilgrim by Mario Puzo.

The book for the July 16, 2003 meeting will be The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks.

The group meets at 8:00 PM in meeting room #3 in the Spa. Contact Florence Friedman at 201-854-1268 with any questions.


ELDER CARE LAW SEMINAR

There will be an Elder Care Law Seminar on Wednesday evening, June 18, 2003 at 8:00 PM in the Spa Lounge. Ms. Jo-Anne Jeffreys, Esq. will present a diverse program to help us all to plan for the future. Topics will include trusts, wills, long term financial planning and how rules and laws relate to the law of the State of New Jersey. We urge you to attend and ask questions of how this field relates to you and your family.


FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIES

The movie for June 13, 2003 will be Real Women Have Curves.

The movie for June 20, 2003 will be Personal Velocity. Movies start at 8:15 PM unless otherwise indicated.


New     IT'S TIME FOR TENNIS!

The tennis courts are open for the season and Reservations are being taken at the Spa. Remember, courts must be reserved in advance but not more than 24 hours in advance; one hour reservations for singles/two hours for doubles.

There is a $10.00 fee for guest usage on weekends until 2:00 PM. Anyone interested in participating in round robins or lessons, contact Cassandra Wagner at 201-854-6068 or intothecourt@aol.com.

Steve Rosen's Sunday morning Hacker's League will be up and running at 9:00 AM on the New East Courts #1, #2 and #3.


New     GALAXY LAUGHTER CLUB

Every Friday evening at 7:30 PM join your friends for a free half hour session of pure laughter in Room 3 in the Spa This club is sponsored by your Recreational Activities Committee. Check the cubbies for more details.


SENIOR VAN SERVICE TO NORTH BERGEN LIBRARY

To accommodate Galaxy residents who do not drive, the Book Club has requested a stop at the North Bergen Public Library on the regular Guttenberg senior van route on Mondays between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. If there is sufficient response from the Galaxy, this will begin. To indicate your interest in participating, please call Florence Friedman at 201-854-1268 or Natalie Polk at 201-868-0428. This will only happen if there is sufficient response.


CARIBBEAN WEEK

The Galaxy Social and Cultural Committee will be sponsoring a Caribbean Week, August 18 to 23, ending in a Caribbean Night party on August 23rd. If you come from a Caribbean country, maybe you would like to share your knowledge of the culture and customs of this region through a talk, slide show, a cooking demonstration, a fashion, crafts, art or dance presentation. If you are interested in doing a presentation, or know someone who could be part of our Caribbean Week program, leave a note with your name and phone number for Pam Sanabria at the Tower II concierge desk.


G-FLAG GAY PRIDE BAR-B-QUE!

New     PROGRAMS AT THE SPA

Massages are available at the Spa for $60 per hour. For an appointment call Rich Santangelo at 201-868-4380 or the Spa.  The Spa is also offering core strengthening classes on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM and Saturdays at 10:00 AM.  Massage therapy and fitness equipment orientations are also now available.  Contact the Spa at 201-453-2405 for more information.


TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT CARS

If you plan to bring in a rental car, replacement car or loaner car, you must read this!

Temporary replacement cars used for longer than 36 hours must be issued a temporary tag. The tags are available from the GTCA Accounting office and are valid for ten (10) days. Temporary replacement cars for less than 36 hours must obtain a temporary parking number from the Accounting Department.
