New      FIRE SAFETY INFORMATION

Two complete sets of the existing fire alarm devices that are going to be replaced with the State-of-The-Art addressable fire alarm system were filed with the Guttenberg Fire Department, in accordance with their request that we file by January 31, 2003.  We met the deadline, and our Fire Official has notified me that he is pleased with the submission.

New SCAFFOLD DROPS

Scaffold drops to inspect our façades in connection with our exterior restoration have begun at Tower These scaffold drops are similar to window washer rigging that is seen on skyscrapers and will proceed from the top of the building to the bottom floors.   All Tower I residents are advised to close and lock their windows for the next two weeks until the Tower I has been thoroughly inspected.  You may hear banging, drilling and other noise, and, if you are home at the time, you will see workers outside your windows on these rigs.   All residents are advised to close your blinds/curtains, as we don't know the exact times that workers will move past your windows.  Work will only take place during the daylight hours.

As we move to Building 5 and Tower II, we will advise you, so that those residents will not be surprised, as the drops begin.  Weather conditions, however, keep us from being more specific about the days and times of these drops.  For example, we were scheduled to start on 2/12, but were unable to commence on 2/12 or 2/13 because of wind conditions.  As you can see, we are already off by 2 (windy) days, and we haven't even started.  Safety is everyone's utmost concern.  We will continue to contact you as the drops proceed.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY CALL 911 FIRST!

For any type of life threatening emergency, call 911 first. Then, call your concierge for help, or to advise that you have called 911.

THE QUESTIONNAIRE

In the spirit of the freshness of the New Year, we are updating our files, and embarking on some new projects.  During the next few days, you will be receiving a questionnaire about the occupancy of your apartment.  This questionnaire is for management use only, and will remain the private property of the Galaxy.   Please read the accompanying letter and fill out the questionnaire, in order to be properly listed in the directory.  Also, see below for another reason it is imperative that we receive your completed questionnaire.

KEY FOBS

We are installing a new Key Fob system to replace our aging system.  It is no longer cost effective to keep our old system on life support.  In continuation of the topic above, "The Questionnaire", if you use a key fob it is necessary to fill out the form mentioned above so that you (and those that live with you) can receive new key fobs.

HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS

Management will be meeting next week with Verizon Avenue to commence discussions on the high speed internet service.  The cost for this service will be anywhere from $19.00 to $24.00 per month   depending on how many  residents sign up. The rate quoted in the survey will stay in effect for the length of the contract that we sign (from 1-3 years).   We have received about 70 affirmative responses, and about 15 negative responses.  This is your last chance to respond to the survey.
