NOTICES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

NOTICES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

HAPPY NEW YEAR.  HOPE YOUR CELEBRATION WAS SAFE AND JOYOUS.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY CALL 911 FIRST!

If you have any kind of emergency,  it is very important that you call 911 first. You can then call your concierge for help. Calling your concierge first wastes precious time.

UPDATE ON LEAKS

Repairs to an area outside Tower I began on December 16th.  These free repairs are being done by our contractor, who is honoring the warranty, and working diligently and cooperatively with both Management and our engineers. These repairs are anticipated to stop a number of leaks that are affecting the building.  If successful, and we have every reason to believe that they will be, we will proceed with more repairs of the same nature in additional locations.

THE BERM

The real name for what we call "the Berm" (that big hole at the end of the driveway, just past Tower III) is really, "The Giant Planter" because it is not really a "Berm" at all.  Nonetheless, a design to repair the 'Giant Planter' is currently being reviewed by our engineer.  It is anticipated that the 'Giant Planter' will be repaired and restored within the next four weeks, weather permitting.

HOLIDAY FUND

On behalf of the staff at the Galaxy Towers Condominium Association, we would like to thank all of those residents who have contributed to the Gratuity Fund.  Your generosity, especially at this time of the year, is greatly appreciated.  Lists of contributors were distributed to each employee and a list is available at your concierge desk for your review. If you have not as yet contributed to this fund there is still time.  There will be a second distribution in February with an updated list of contributors.

KEY FOBS

We are installing a new Key Fob system to replace our aging system.  It is no longer cost effective to keep our old system on life support.  In continuation of the topic above, "The Questionnaire", if you use a key fob it is necessary to fill out the form mentioned above so that you (and those that live with you) can receive new key fobs.

HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS - YET ANOTHER PIECE OF PAPER TO FILL OUT

In the next few days, there will be a short, non-obligatory survey available at your concierge desk asking if you are interested in contracting for one year of high speed internet access at an approximate cost of $22.00 per month.  The cost varies slightly form $19.00 to $24.00 per month depending on how many residents sign up.  We are just checking to see if there is a real interest in this service from Verizon Avenue, before we ask for, or look to make any commitment.  Please fill out the survey.  If there is a lot of interest, we will continue to pursue the options, and will keep you posted.

Please be advised that the regular Guttenberg Board of Education Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2003 has been cancelled.

THEFRONTDESK.NET

We begin training our staff next week in the utilization of this new system.  We will also be training residents in the near future.  With this system, you will be able to order a repair from your office or home, read and send email messages to residents, contact your concierge via computer, and receive notifications of mail and package deliveries.  Important Association documents will also be available for viewing and downloading as well.  Right now, we are adding the final touches to the program and working out the last little kinks.  There will be a big announcement in January, when the program goes on-line.

CREATIVE EYE

The next meeting for the Creative Eye is scheduled for Thursday January 9, 2003 at 8:00 PM.  We wish the residents of the Galaxy joyful holidays.  Happy New Year.

FIRE SAFETY SYSTEM UPDATE:

Currently, Mr. Gorman's office is drawing the plans and specifications for our new system.   We expect that the Board and Facilities Committee will see the plans in January, and that they will be sent to reputable companies for bidding in February.   To date, we are exactly on target with this project.

ELEVATOR RENOVATION

We have just commenced a restoration project for all tower elevators.  This will include the cleaning and refinishing of all metal in the elevators, the honing of the floor, and a thorough cleaning and polishing of all elevators, including the garage elevators.  Our staff will then be trained by the professionals in the maintenance and upkeep of the areas that have been refurbished.  The wood paneling in the lobby elevator vestibules will also be refinished in an effort to remove the scratches and dirt, and to restore the wood to its formerly impeccable condition.

GTCA OFFICE OPEN ONE EVENING A MONTH

The Galaxy Management office will remain open one evening a month for those owners who wish to view public documents.  We apologize for the fact that the October night was cancelled, however, due to the Nor'easter, it was not prudent to keep employees in the office at the risk of their safety.   The next evening will be Wednesday, January 15, 2003 and will repeat on the third Wednesday of each month.  We will be scheduling ½ hour appointments. Kindly call the management office to schedule your time and indicate the documents you wish to view.

GALAXY BOOK CLUB
