The Silver Pond Chinese Restaurant right on Main Street in Fort Lee (across from the municipal parking lot) is one of our favorite places for lunch. Dim Sum, which literally means small bites that delight the heart, is served every day between noon and 2 p.m. Waiters walk around with trays of food in small dishes or steamers. If you like what you see, you say yes. If not, you wait for the next offering.
Among the many choices are clams with black bean sauce, steamed and fried dumplings filled with shrimp or pork or beef, pan fried noodles, sticky rice wrapped in a lotus leaf, spring rolls, sesame cakes, eggplant or bell pepper stuffed with shrimp and served with black bean sauce, fried shrimp with chili and spiced salt, a variety of bean curd dishes, and more.
In addition, there is a regular menu you may order from. The hot and sour soup is the best this reporter has ever tasted. The dinner menu has both traditional and exotic fare. There are many interesting noodle dishes and a fish tank from which you may choose your dinner. It doesn't come any fresher than that.
The prices are reasonable but be warned. You may have to wait for a table on Saturdays and Sundays.
