FIRE DRILL NOTICE
The Safety Committee will hold a fire drill at the Galaxy on Thursday, January 24, 2002 from 3:00PM until 4:00PM.
The Drill will be done in two parts. In the first part, the alarms will be sounded for approximately 20 seconds. The second part will consist of a message over the public address system. It will state that this is a test and that no one is to leave their apartment. The message will be repeated for approximately 1 minute.
There are two important things to remember:
- Do not leave your apartment during the drill. The purpose of the drill is to test how well you can hear the sirens and the message, and to determine whether there are any areas requiring amplification or other corrective action.
- During a real fire emergency, if the sirens were to sound, the correct response is to proceed to your front door without opening it and wait for the public address message. You should not wait to hear the message in your bedroom. In a real emergency, time can be very important. Therefore, when you hear the alarms, go to the front door of your apartment to listen to the message, but do not go outside your apartment unless you are instructed to do so.
- The smoke barrier doors by the elevators will close during the drill.
- The elevators will go to the lobby: the interruption of elevator service should be approximately three minutes.
