Effective October Ist, you can use pre-tax TransitCheks to pay for Galaxy bus tickets. Just purchase the tickets from your concierge, as usual. The purchase price will appear on your next maintenance statement. When you pay your bill, submit your TransitChek(s) to cover all or part of the cost of the bus tickets,* along with payment for the remainder of your monthly maintenance bill charges.
That's all there is to it Simple, isn't it!

What is TransitChek?The TransitChek program. for the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut tri state area is administered by the TransitCenter. It is a program to help employees commute to work for less money by purchasing transportation vouchers with pre-tax dollars. Under Federal tax law,companies can exclude from their employees' income up to $65 a month ($780 a year) to pay for commuting to work by transit and vanpool providers.
The Galaxy Towers Condominium Association Role:
As a provider of resident commuter transportation via its Galaxy Bus service, the GTCA was granted approval by the TransitCenter in August, 1999 to accept TransitChek vouchers from its residents for the exclusive purpose of purchasing Galaxy Bus Tickets.
Guidelines far Resident Use of TransitCheks:
TransitCheks will be accepted as a form of payment for the purchase of bus tickets on the Galaxy bus system effective with the 10/1/99 maintenance statement.TransitCheks can only be used as payment toward the bus ticket purchase portion of the resident's monthly maintenance statement.
TransitCheks should total equal to or less then the ticket purchase price.
TransitCheks can only be redeemed through the GTCA as part of the resident's monthly maintenance payment. Vouchers should be enclosed in the maintenance payment envelope, along with a check for the remaining portion of the monthly maintenance charges. The combined total of vouchers and check should equal the total amount due on the resident's statement.
No change will be provided, or credit applied to any other portion of a resident's maintenance bill for excess payment with TransitCheks.
