GALAXY PUBLICITY
by Florence Friedman
The Galaxy has been getting some positive publicity in The Jersey Journal and on television recently.
The Journal, which serves mainly Hudson County, often prints information about Guttenberg that you will find nowhere else.
Josie Sysman, under the byline Just Josie, writes a column called LIFE, which appears every Thursday. First, she wrote an article about the Galaxy Singers. Besides telling about their performances and the pleasure they give to others, she quoted several members who explained the joy that singing brings to them. In the course of researching that story, she heard about the Patchwork and Quilting Club and wrote an article that appeared January 25 and described how the club got started, the work the members do and some of the individual quilters. Josie also reported on their December exhibition and sale at which nearly $1,300 was raised for charity.
This article appeared on a news service and led to the club's being featured on Eyewitness News (ABC) at 5 P.M. on March 1. Several members of the group were interviewed and their work was shown. Lori Stokes, the reporter, was impressed by the diversity of the Galaxy population as reflected in the association.
February 1 brought an article on our very own Dr. Paul Friedman, a resident artist and occasional Galaxy lecturer on art. Josie wrote about his background, art education and professional achievements as well as his family and personal interests. Several photos of his work were printed.
