THE HIDDEN TREASURE OF THE GALAXY

by LEN LITOF

Is it money hidden somewhere in the nether regions of the garage like the 6th or 5 th floor? Is it cartons of money stacked up neatly in the bins of the storage rooms that dot the complex? Is it gold bullion that was buried beneath the playground by a Pirate, just before Bull set up his ferry on our waterfront?

The treasure is infinitely more valuable than all that. It is priceless, and it is right under our noses, to be used all day every day, 24/7.

It is the seniors who live in the Galaxy and their vast experience. They have been there, done that, and they have chosen the Galaxy lifestyle just as you have. They are professionals, business people, educators and executives. They are parents, grandparents, uncles and trusted friends. They are the people you see around the complex who say good morning, smile at your kids, play with your dogs, hold doors open for women and dress in clothes other than black. They drive big cars and, yes, they are careful not to alarm anyone in the driveway or garages by driving too fast.

They know all about your dreams of seeking the good life and raising kids so they make you proud. They have owned the houses you long for. They have taken those great vacations in Europe and the Orient, skied in Vail and Gstaad, stood proudly near their children as they graduated from school, sweated out the job interviews with them, comforted them when their hearts were broken, supported them when they screwed up and needed understanding that only a parent could provide. They lived through the tough times of losing their parents, helping them cope with old age and even the hell of going through a divorce or seeing a spouse take ill and pass away.

They are here, keenly aware of what life can bring and willing to share the knowledge their life experiences has brought.

Just about any questions you have relating to you or your parents -- assisted living, eldercare, nursing homes finances, care giving, coping with infirmities, personal, family problems -- can be answered by the seniors here.

They can do some research for you, whatever. It comes with a stiff price, and that is a heartfelt thank you for your kindness. In the near future, they plan to bring in experts for an open discussion that will deal with eldercare.
