We all have to do it! So, why not make it easier and more enjoyable?

Management has been working hard on our goal to enhance some of the amenities here at The Galaxy. One of our recent projects has been to search for and select a laundry service provider that will help us to attain our goal. Your Board of Directors formed a committee several months ago to tackle the assignment. After an extensive interview and bid process we decided to award the contract to Coinmach Industries. Coinmach is an industry leader with impeccable references from other associations throughout the metropolitan area as well as our immediate vicinity. They have offered us a package of amenities that is unsurpassed in the industry.

One of the main features that will be implemented is the Freedom System, which works as a Metro Card does for transit. You will no longer need to hoard quarters for your laundry! There will be a value transfer machine, located in each main laundry room, which will allow you to transfer whatever amount you wish from your credit or debit card to the Freedom System card. We will also have one cash-to-card machine for those of you who do not wish to use your credit or debit card. Every time that you use the Freedom System card in a machine, it will display the balance that you have remaining on the card. You will also be able to add increments of time to a dryer as you currently do.

Other amenities offered by Coinmach include:

• Replacement of all equipment including the equipment in the floor-by-floor laundry rooms.
• Installation of one credit / debit card per tower.
• Supply and install all new light fixtures in the main rooms.
• Professional cleaning of the main rooms.
• Supply and install new laminate for the counters in the main rooms.
• Supply 2 large garbage cans for the main rooms.
• Supply a new folding table for each of the main rooms.
• Painting of all of the rooms.
• Supply and install new sinks in the main rooms.
• Supply and install half-glass entrance doors in the main rooms.
• Remove and refinish the extra wall in the Tower 1 main room.
• Post signs in rooms with operating instructions and toll-free numbers for refunds and service requests.
• New molded plastic seating.
• Welcome bags.
• Resident and housekeeper educational sessions in the use of the new Freedom System.
• Possibly, the most exciting feature will be the installation of the Laundrimate system. Laundrimate is a system that will allow you to call down from your telephone to check the availability of machines. It also has the ability to call you to tell you when the machine is finished. Future capabilities will allow the machine to call itself in for service even before it shows symptoms of needing service.

Coinmach will also be replacing our machines with higher capacity machines. This means that you will be able to do a larger load of laundry at a cost, which is roughly the same or less per pound than you are paying now. The new front-loading washers also wash and extract your clothing more efficiently. This translates into cleaner laundry and less drying time. For your convenience, I have included a table with this article comparing the old machines with the new ones.

As you can see, we are busy at work for you, to enhance the levels of amenities and service here at The Galaxy.
