The Galaxy Photography Club is comprised of residents of the Galaxy Towers Condominium. The condominium is located on the west bank of the Hudson River directly across from New York City in the town of Guttenberg, New Jersey. Here is a picture of our unique complex, comprised of three towers with a shopping mall and spa facility forming the center of the complex. The parking deck is located directly below the mall and has secure access to the towers. We have darkroom facilities within the complex as well as an exhibit hall in the lounge area. This resulted from the boosterism of the club members and the board of directors, and is a great benefit for our community. |
Galaxy Towers Condominium
We have initiated and maintained several projects since our inception including,
A display in the Spa Gallery of the club members work. The display is changed regularly (as time and resources allow) and we sometimes feature a single artist's work. This gallery is on display for residents, and their guests, of our condominium.
Botanical garden photo feast - usually for special plantings or exhibits.
Nature walks - forest and nature reserves including the Appalachian Way.
Parades and other cultural events in the city.
Special fall shoots - for the glorious autumn color.
Professional photographers with published books speak to our group, as well as the Galaxy at large. We also have professional suppliers do presentations for us on lighting techniques, still photography, and other studio techniques.
Our members will bring in their work (old as well as recent) and we as a group will offer a critique of the photographs or slides and will offer helpful tips and ideas. We typically focus on 2 main areas, taking the original image, and then printing that image.
We are also in the middle of construction of our new photographic darkroom which should be completed by summers end. We will then be able to sponsor training in printing and darkroom techniques.
We are just now initiating an On-Line Photographic Exhibit, with which we intend to display the members prints. Of course this requires some new techniques involving digital processes and computer expertise. Please comment on what you see, to any of our members.
